Senior Technical Systems Analyst

Job Description:

Position located in Frederick, Maryland, and is responsible for executing tasks and activities that ensure the program architecture and system is developed according to system standards and provides operation support. Creates system documentation. Examines and evaluates alternate means of satisfying user requirements. Suggests technically feasible approaches and makes recommendations to the customer regarding the most effective and efficient automation approaches. Participates in system testing and implementation. Meets frequently with programmers and functional area specialists to coordinate work and resolve problems. Evaluates impact of new technologies on current systems and policies. Provides detailed and specific knowledge of the work processes, data models, work rules, file/database designs, and computer and operating procedures of assigned programs.

Analyzes and interprets data relationships and elements for source systems; supports the analysis, specification, and mapping of data elements necessary for integration; recommends and implements modifications to the data architecture and data views; tests modifications or additions to the design/architecture including the data source integrations, database, schemas, views, queries and web interface to validate that the functionality meets documented requirements; develops interface control documentation and agreements; monitors daily load processing to ensure data feeds have been received and processed as scheduled; establishes and maintains contact with data feed providers to identify reporting requirements and evaluate changes in data

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 5+ years experience related to data analysis, relational database development, and data warehousing. Position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and working knowledge of relational databases and strong SQL skills; and experience developing and executing cases. Dimensional and relation data modeling required. Must be able to work effectively in a team environment with minimal direct supervision, make recommendations based on research, and handle multiple assignments as required. . Applicant must be a U.S. CITIZEN and be able to pass NAC or Secret level security clearance. Occasional travel may be required.

Suggested Qualifications:

Experience with PL/SQL, Oracle DBMS, and OLAP tools. Experience with other data analysis tools like MS Access, MS Excel, Toad, Business Objects. Experience with web enabled applications, Microsoft Operating Environments, and UNIX.

Java Developer - Kihei, Maui, HI

Job Description:

As part of the development team, create and update a military web application using Java web technologies. Develop application front end using HTML, JavaScript and JSTL. Develop application code using Java and Jakarta Struts. Work with software testers to rapidly and professionally resolve development issues. Work with documentation specialists to accurately document functionality and performance of the application.

Required Technical Skills:

  • Experience with Java web development technologies (JSTL, Struts, Servlets).
  • SQL and JDBC experience.

  • Experience integrating disparate legacy data sources into a coherent application.

Security Documentation Specialist

Job Description:

Akimeka, LLC is looking to bring a motivated, team oriented, self-starting information technology professional onto our Kihei, Maui team. We are looking for an excellent communicator and writer to support our Medical Situational Awareness (MSA) program, in the areas of information security, documentation, and software testing. Experience with Department of Defense certification and accreditation processes is a strongly recommended. This individual will be responsible for navigating our program through the entire DITSCAP certification and documentation process, as well as contribute to the overall software development effort in the areas of documentation and testing.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 3-5 years of specialized experience.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills to include proficiency with MS Office.
  • Must be a US citizen.

Senior Data Integration / ETL Specialist / Data Feed Developer

Job Description:

We are seeking a motivated addition to our current development team. The successful candidate will continue development of a large, high profile data warehousing project and will work with data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) tools to integrate new data sources into the data warehouse. This position will work with other application developers and be an authority for the ETL process for each of the data feeds. This specialist will be familiar with multiple software tools in the area of ETL and an expert in accessing various data formats and hosts. They will develop the automated ETL processes for data source integration according to specifications; monitor daily load process to ensure data feeds have been received and are processed as scheduled; and coordinate and maintain configuration management and baseline establishment.

Required Qualifications:

This position requires significant programming skills and an understanding of database principles. Successful candidate will have a bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Requires 5+ years experience developing and implementing ETL processes from a variety of platforms, in a data warehousing environment and 5+ years software development using JAVA, JDBC and PL/SQL with an Oracle database. Position requires strong attention to detail and experience with UNIX, and MS Windows NT/2000 in a development environment. Candidate will be expected to utilize the Data Junction ETL tool. Knowledge of Oracle products and relational databases is required.

Must be flexible and able to work effectively in a team environment with minimal direct supervision, and manage multiple tasks to completion. Ability to maintain ongoing communication and supply analysis and status reports to the Team Leader and Project Manager. Applicant must be able to pass a Government background check and be a U.S. Citizen.

Suggested Qualifications:

Experience with FTP, HTTPS, Telnet, and UNIX and NT scripting is a plus. Business Objects experience is also a bonus.

Java Developer - Frederick, MD

Job Description:

This successful candidate will work with analysts to derive requirements for loading data into a data warehouse. They will implement the requirements by writing server side java objects to control the load process.

Required Qualifications:

The candidate must have experience writing server side java, including:

  • Java applications that perform file manipulation

Candidates with the following skills will be given preference:

  • Servlets
  • Experience writing 9i PL/SQL stored procedures
  • Data Junction or other ETL tools

Security Policy Specialist

Job Description:

Akimeka has an immediate opening for a security policy specialist to support our growing information assurance practice. In addition to providing security policy analysis to multiple programs, the incumbent will also serve as the Facility Security Officer for our Kihei, Maui office.

The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of the Department of Defense security policies ranging from the NISPOM to CJCSI 6211.02b; 6510.01C; DoDI 8500.1; 8500.2; 8540.aa and 5200.40 among others. The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience in applying these (and other) security policies to the development of software application requirements and system specifications.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with 3-5 years specialized experience or ten or more years of experience in security policy and administration;
  • FSO certification from a government recognized granting institution
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills to include proficiency with MS Office
  • US Citizenship

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with CVS and Rational Requisite Pro
  • Experience with framework for risk decision assessment criteria
  • Training and experience in the SEI CMM Level III and/or SEI SSE development environment

Information Systems Security Engineer

Job Description:

The Lead Analyst has five or more years of experience in designing and developing secure command, control and communications (C3I) systems and/or secure command, control, communications and intelligence (C4I) systems and in providing information assurance support for such systems.

The desired individual will typically have an understanding of secure systems engineering development, including systems security requirements analysis, system security requirements allocation, trade-off analysis, other system security analyses, and secure system definition and specification development. In addition, he/she will typically possess knowledge of software engineering development, software testing, and software documentation, and have experience in the management and development of technical staff.

He/she has a Bachelors Degree in electrical, electronic or computer engineering; computer science; or a related field and five years engineering, analyst or software experience; or a Bachelors Degree in one of the above mentioned disciplines and seven years engineering, analyst or software experience; or ten years engineering, analyst or software experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Earned degree in electrical, electronic or computer engineering; computer science;
  • Verifiable experience in the development of information assurance solutions;
  • US citizenship.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with both military and non-military security standards and procedures;
  • Experience in designing and developing large software systems also is recommended;
